Microsoft Offers a Commerce Server Product Roadmap
Sarasota, FL (August, 30 2007) -- Recent postings within Microsoft developer
blogs provide a rare view into Microsoft's product roadmap for Commerce Server.
Commerce Server '7' is targeted for release in mid 2010. This will be the 7th
major version of Microsoft's e-commerce technology, which started with Merchant
Server in 1996.
Microsoft boasts the following feature sets for Commerce Server 7:
- CS 2007 migration
- Commerce-at-Your-Fingertips - Integrated commerce delivery through Web
Services: marketplaces, kiosks, mobility, emerging mediums, in-store
integration
- Lifestyle Commerce - The next level of personalization; to include social
network integration
- Vertical Industry Starter Sites - Including industry specific function controls,
data schemas and business management tools.
- Tighter SharePoint integration - To include search, commerce enabled portals,
content authoring/workflow
