Client Background
IndyGov.org is the official website of the city of Indianapolis and Marion County, Indiana. IndyGov.org is an umbrella site to six other public websites offering everything from information on housing, utilities and sustainable living to public hearings, economic development and education. The breadth of information offered by the group of sites makes it one of the best sources for information about the Indianapolis area and provides visitors with everything they need to know about living, working, playing and getting involved in Marion County, Indiana.
Business Challenge
IndyGov.org was working off of MicroSoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 when they approached MethodFactory. Since this was an application platform that was no longer supported, they needed to migrate all seven sites from the MCMS 2001 application to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007. They also required the ability for each department/agency within the government to maintain their own information in real time. And all of this had to integrate with the site’s new design.
Solution
MethodFactory implemented Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, empowering all of the departments and agencies to self manage their own content and deliver it in a timely fashion through an intranet that supports all seven sites. IndyGov.org’s team was given on-site training and implementation support by MethodFactory, ensuring a smooth transition and efficient use and understanding of all of the new tools provided with the application, which include:
- Collaboration and tracking project task lists
- E-mail integration
- Extensible workflows
- Richer authoring (on the Web and in Microsoft Office system applications)
- Better multilingual support
- Security API and extensible roles
- Better content deployment tools
- Web-based site management tools
- Integrated search
